LINCOLN HONORS VETERAN-STUDENTS AT SPECIAL AUTO DEALER’S ASSOCIATION EVENT
Former and active military personnel now training for Automotive careers at Lincoln Tech-Queens Campus
In 1946, the original Lincoln campus – èצӰ in Newark, NJ – opened to assist veterans returning home from World War II. The school provided hands-on career training and guidance to help U.S. servicemen translate their military skills into professional skills, and transition into civilian life after defending America’s freedoms overseas. Since then Lincoln schools have placed the highest priority on service to veterans looking to launch new careers when they return home.
In that spirit of commitment, èצӰ in Queens, NY was honored to recognize four current students who served their country with distinction, then began training for new careers in the Automotive industry. These four students – Julie Esty of Seaford, NY; Covid Hackshaw of Cambria Heights, NY; James Phillips of Bronx, NY; and Chad Spencer of Bronx, NY – were awarded the 2014 Greater New York Auto Dealers Association (GNYADA) Scholarship for their outstanding academic performance, attendance, and commitment to excellence in their future career field. The awards ceremony took place Monday, June 16th, at the Old Westbury Country Club in Westbury, NY.
“It’s such an honor to be able to present these four with the GNYADA awards,” says Queens Campus President James Morrissey. “Each of them personifies and exemplifies what it means to be not only an outstanding Lincoln student, but an outstanding individual. Their dedication to service to their country, and now to shaping their futures by training for Automotive careers, makes them role models for all of us to emulate. We’re proud to see them every day at the Queens campus.”
