There are some things that can help students gain leverage in the job market. One very important thing that employers take note of in the electronics field are technicians who hold ESPA certifications. ESPA (the Electronic Systems Professional Alliance) certifies graduates as compliant and knowledgeable within the guidelines created by the electronics industry association. This stands out to employers when weeding out job applicants. With ESPA Certification, employers can readily identify the entry-level technicians who not only possess the skill sets, training and professionalism it takes to be effective on the job from the start, but also remain flexible to adapt to the company’s culture from Day One.

ESPA Certification is seen as a stamp of approval within the industry. Electronic Systems Technicians (ESTs) that become certified have proven their mastery of electronic system fundamentals, learned low-voltage installation terminologies and techniques, and have demonstrated a commitment to their career in the electronic systems industry.

Helping Students Prepare for ESPA Certification

Lincoln Tech has recognized a need for this certification and offers it on select campuses. In 2016, students at Lincoln Tech’s Union campus had a remarkable pass rate of 97%. Jeff Gardner, the Executive Director of ESPA, praised the campus: “The team at Lincoln Tech in Union is second to none. This campus is our #1 Authorized Training Partner, testing and certifying more technicians than any other school in the country. We are pleased to have them on board, bringing hundreds of qualified people into the New York-New Jersey workforce every year.”

There is no downside to becoming ESPA-certified. You become a more eligible job candidate, you can potentially start at a higher salary, and you gain important knowledge that sets you ahead of the pack. Finding the right hands-on training program is your first step, and Lincoln Tech offers the program at campuses at 6 campuses.
